Over 10,000 students are set to benefit from the county government's Sh80 million second term bursary as schools reopen today.

The bursary allocations will see beneficiaries get between Sh5,000 and Sh20,000, depending on their level of need and classification of schools they attend.

Governor Jack Ranguma over the weekend disbursed the last batch of Sh70 million bursary cheques to all the seven sub-counties in the area, with Muhoroni MP Onyango Koyoo also distributing Sh8.9 million CDF bursary.

Ranguma said the timing of the distribution of the funds was aimed at ensuring students are not sent home at the start of the term. Kisumu Central was the biggest beneficiary with Sh11.8 million.
