Murang'a County government will adopt a kitty to buy 75 electric transformers to fast-track electricity connectivity.

According to Governor Mwangi wa Iria, in the 2016/17 Financial Year, a kitty has been budgeted to buy quality transformers to be handed over to Kenya Power to support President Uhuru Kenyatta's electrification programme.

Speaking in Murang'a, Iria said each of the 35 wards will benefit with five transformers to be installed at sites to be identified by Kenya Power.

The governor also said Sh350 million will be set aside to facilitate water connections to ensure residents have access to clean water. "We will consult all stakeholders to determine projects to be supported in their respective wards," said Iria.
