Seven charged with threatening CDF official over graft claims

Seven suspects who allegedly threatened Mukurweini Constituency Development Fund (CDF) chairman over corruption claims were yesterday arraigned in a Nairobi court.

Issac Wamugunda Kariuki, Salome Kabita, Stephen Muchiri, Bernard Muchiri, Gifts Mwai, Edward Muthe and Stephen Chomba appeared before Resident Magistrate Miriam Mugure to answer charges of threatening to kill the official after he linked them to corruption.

Five of the suspects were arrested on February 4, 2016, at Kimbingoti within Kirinyaga County while the rest were arrested at Shauri Moyo in Nairobi.

Conspiracy to kill

The prosecution said the seven are suspected to have committed the offence of conspiracy to murder.

The suspects are yet to disclose more information that could assist in investigations.

Magistrate Mugure directed the suspects be remanded at Pangani Police Station for two days to allow the police to complete investigations.
