Kenyatta family gets the greenlight to build smart city

A new mega project by the Kenyatta family is set to dwarf well-known gated communities in the country.

Set to sit on an 11,576-acre farm, Northlands will see construction of residential houses, schools, an industrial area, commercial centre and an agricultural zone, which already partly exists in the name of Brookside and Gicheha Farm.

Estimated to cost over Sh500 billion, National Environment Management Authority has given the construction of the smart city in Ruiru the go-ahead.

It is expected to ease traffic jams around the city by providing alternative routes.
