Healthcare business to boost Kenya-Israel trade

NAIROBI, KENYA: Medical practitioners and patients are set to benefit from advanced high tech medicine following a trade partnership between Kenya and Israel.
A delegation of over 10 companies from Israel on Tuesday had a chance to showcase their advanced products and service delivery mechanisms to their Kenyan counterparts in a bid to entice their adoption in the country.
These are products meant to ease diagnosis, and treatment especially on emergency cases by promoting tele-medicine which involves utilisation of 'cloud technology' to communicate with Israeli specialists without having to travel to the country.

India, Israel and South Africa are said to be the mecca for many patients with chronic illnesses.
Israel Deputy Ambassador to Kenya Nedav Peldman noted that initiating healthcare business with Kenya will not only boost bilateral relations but also improve the lives of Kenyans living in remote areas where basic government services are hard to reach.
"Our aim is to provide cheap and affordable healthcare systems that will have direct impact on people's lives. Kenya has one of the most promising healthcare business environments especially with medical tourism," he said.
Health Cabinet Cleopas Mailu in a statement said that access, under-funding and inequality are some of the sector's challenges coupled with increase in non-communicable diseases and accidents especially among the young generation.
