KNEC Chief Executive Officer Joseph Kivilu

This year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education KCPE candidates to know their fate today after the Kenya National Examination Council KNEC releases results at the Mitihani House, Nairobi.

There has been anxiety as candidates and parents wait for the release of the standard eight examination results.

The examination done by 927, 789 candidates was hit by irregularities, attributed to the candidates’ poor preparation due to the five-week teachers’ strike at the beginning of third term.

According to KNEC, there will be no ranking of schools and candidates for the KCPE examinations after the ranking system was banned by the Ministry of Education.

KNEC Chief Executive Officer Joseph Kivilu has said despite a few challenges witnessed during the administration of the examination, credibility of the tests was not affected.

Speaking during the official release of results, Education CS Fred Matiang'i said the government is committed to ensure no candidate is barred from taking national examinations due to lack of fees.

Matiang’i said there was an increase in enrollment for national exams as a result of government’s waiver of exam fees.
