In her statement, Waiguru says the doctor has advised her to take on lighter duties and she has requested the president to assign her ‘such lighter duties as he shall deem fit’.

Waiguru has resigned in the heat of public outcry calling for her exit from office following a series of graft allegations in her ministry.

Led by Raila Odinga, the opposition has previously called for her resignation to give way for investigations. CORD members while speaking in Mombasa about the Cabinet Secretary, called for her to resign over the ‘connections’ she has to the defrauding of KSh 791 million from the National Youth Service (NYS).

Just two weeks ago, Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter said he had collected more signatures needed to impeach the Cabinet Secretary over scandals surrounding the ministry and the NYS.
