Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga speaks to Gor Mahia before Cecafa Kagame Club Cup final

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga had a word of encouragement for Gor Mahia before the team left their De Mage Hotel for the National Stadium, the venue of the Cecafa Kagame Club championships.

Raila was accompanied by Siaya Senator James Orengo, Mombasa County Governor Hassan Joho, ODM Director of Campaigns Junet Mohammed. Gatundu MP Moses Kuria also visited the team at the hotel.

William Obwaka, a player from the winning 1985 Gor team, was also in Tanzania to give his support.

Raila’s visit motivated the players ahead of the match against Azam. Meanwhile business activities near the National Stadium in Temeke district, Dar es Salaam came to a standstill as travelling Gor Mahia fans started early celebrations ahead of their team’s match against Azam of Tanzania.

The fans arrived yesterday morning and camped outside the stadium to wait for the arrival of Gor Mahia from De Mage Hotel, which has been their residential hotel for the past two weeks. Interestingly, the Gor Mahia contingent included AFC fans who donned Leopard’s colours.

“Gor is a Kenyan club and we must set aside our domestic football rivalry to support them,” said Kennedy Wafula who travelled from Mumias.
