Kenya: Four MA Communication students and a faculty member represented Daystar University at the 10th Global Communication Association Annual Conference held on July 16, 2015 at the Westin Grand Hotel in Berlin, Germany. The students, Stella Mwangi, Jesse L. Masai, Jennifer Wangeci Kanyeki and Sr. Christine Masivo together with their lecturer, Assistant Communication Head of Department Sr. Dr. A. L. Lando presented papers at the conference.

The conference whose theme was “Digital Transformation – Media Management, Digital Education, Media Convergence and Globalization,” saw over 100 papers accepted for presentation, according to GCA President Prof. Yahya R. Kamalipour and Berlin Conference Convener Prof. Mike Friedrichsen. Among the hundred, seven papers were from Africa; two from two different Nigerian Universities and five from Daystar University.

Sr. A.L. Lando hailed the students for not only striving to submit abstracts and papers at reputable international conferences but also for their efforts to fight all odds to travel to Berlin to present the papers. “I’ve mentored students, co-authored papers with them, helped others to develop their own papers to publication level, but this is the first time that students whose papers have been accepted for oral presentation travel along to present them. It is my greatest joy,” said Sr. Lando.

“I can’t believe that authors whose works I’ve been quoting actually sat down to listen to me and comment on my presentation!” said Sr. Christine Masivo.
