Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet and Director of Criminal Investigations Ndegwa Muhoro have been given 21 days to respond to a case in which a Nakuru-based Flying Squad officer has sued them over an alleged illegal transfer.

The officer said the transfer was prompted by a Sh70 million highway robbery racket linking police officers.

The two are to respond to the case filed as miscellaneous, which emanates from a criminal case in which a traffic police officer is facing charges of robbery with violence.

Flying Squad Commanding Officer Samuel Barongo claimed that his transfer was prompted by theft of goods worth Sh70 million in which three police officers are under investigation.

Mr Barongo, in a letter of transfer dated July 16, 2015 and signed by Jacinta Kinyua, was ordered to leave Nakuru for Loyangalani in Marsabit County where he was to take the post of deputy director of criminal investigations.
