Kisumu: County enters food security partnership

The county government has entered a partnership with the Kenya Red Cross Society and Danish investors to enhance food security, tourism, renewable energy and disaster management.

The move, which aims to eradicate poverty through elaborate plans, will involve various organisations from both Denmark and Kenya, and academia including universities in Kisumu.

Hosting representatives of the two organisations in her office, Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga said companies in Denmark were interested in fish farming, water, renewable and sustainable energy.

“We do not want to depend on aid from foreign countries. That is why we are engaging in a new way of partnership that will improve our people’s lives. We invite investors to put up facilities in Kisumu,” said Ms Odinga.
