Can Nyanza politics survive without Raila?

Following the push by some leaders from Nyanza province to have CORD leader Raila Odinga vie for Homabay senatorial seat, a lot is expected to happen.  With the political power he has been enjoying over the years, this maybe the last decision he has to consider. All the same he has what it takes to win the seat given that he has great support from the Luo community.

His status demands that he maintains and always display leadership qualities.  Unfortunately, he might lose in the election. Furthermore he is not a registered voter in the area and this may not work well for him. This may bar him from vying and opening a forum for his critics. So as to save him from shame and disgrace he should at all costs drop the idea.

Those backing him are politicians who are egocentric and only want to remain relevant in the Nyanza politics. Am rest assured that Homabay County has vast leaders that can take up the position and succeed the late Kajwang’s policies.

These leaders should give other peoplethe opportunity to lead. The sad fact is that without Mr. Raila, Luo people cannot stand on their own. Let the leaders from Nyanza province critically think and analyse the possible effects of compelling Mr. Odinga to vie for Homabay County.

They maybe of the opinion that he will represent opposition well in the senate, but in reality he is above it. The CORD leader should critically analyse advice given to him by his close allies.
