'Standard' columnist bags Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders

Tania Ngima, a columnist with The Standard, has been selected for the US-Based Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders. The prestigious six-week fellowship, which starts in mid-June and ends in August, brings together 500 young African leaders from different fields, who will be based at 20 top American universities.

This is the second time the Fellowship is running, the first being in June 2014.

“I am passionate about Africa’s potential and I believe in African solutions to African challenges. As much as I abhor poor leadership and governance, I believe we are slowly but surely turning the page on what it means to truly lead and the youth are right at the forefront of this revolution. As a new entrepreneur, I am truly humbled by this opportunity. It could not have come at a better time,” she said.

Tania, an MBA holder from the UK and certified accountant, is a Finance and Strategy specialist, with 13 years of industry experience. Elected to the Business and Entrepreneurship track, she joins 39 other Kenyans who were selected from a pool of 50,000 African applicants. She is also an Independent Non-Executive Director with Resolution Insurance and a case studies writer with Strathmore Business School.
