Just two points separate the top three sides in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League as the race towards promotion intensifies.

Zoo Kericho returned to the top of the standings despite being held to a 1-1 tie by Nakumatt as they have picked 17 points so far.

Kakamega Homeboyz are second even after beating Ligi Ndogo 2-1 at home. Homeboyz, who had featured in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) two years ago, went to the top of the top of the standings for just a few hours, but will still be content with the 16 points they have so far collected.

High riding Posta Rangers will certainly take the prize for the most improved side this week. After a slow start in the league, they have steadily moved up in the standings and after beating Talanta 3-1 to jump to third place on the log with 15 points.

Rangers seem to have been slowed down after failing to play in this year's KPL. The team recruited well in anticipation of featuring in the KPL which should make their work easy in their quest to enter the top tier league.

Thika-based Bidco maintained fourth position even though they lost an opportunity to go to second after being held to a barren draw by Finlays at home.

Coached by former international James Omondi, Bidco have now picked 13 points which is the same as fifth placed Kariobangi Sharks.

Sharks were helped by a 2-1 away win against Oserian, bouncing back from a similar loss to Nzoia United a week ago.

On the leading goal scorers front, Kephas Barasa netted his seventh goal of the season and looks set to emerge the top scorer should he keep the same momentum until the end of the season.

Nicholas Kipkirui from Zoo Kericho is second with five goals.  Johnson Indimuli, Kenneth Maritim and Oscar Oketch from West Kenya, Ligi Ndogo and Agrochemicals tie in third place with four goals each.
