No love yet, I’m single - Susan of Gogosimo

It’s been two years since popular band Gogosimo were seen together. Most of their fans are not even aware that the two-piece band led by Susan and James formed in December, 2001 split.

Heads Up has now learnt that the couple, married for 13 years, parted ways in 2012 but managed to work together till 2013.

James, who had initially kept off talking about their separation for the sake of their three children, claims they could not stand being together.

“Working together is not a problem being together is the problem. We have maintained a cordial relationship; in fact I was with the children for three weeks in December,” James told Heads Up.

James, who lost his mother last year, surprisingly still wore his wedding ring during the interview claiming he still loves his wife.

“If you love someone you let them go. I can proudly say that I still love her. If she wants back we would have to talk. She insisted on leaving and I respected it,” the emotional Kenyan born to a Malawian and Congolese father said.

Asked what provoked their separation, James says he was not given a solid reason.

“We did not fight; she just left the house. I stuck there for three months hoping she would come back. I could not believe it because I thought marriage was forever.”

Susan on the other hand was not forthcoming with information. In fact when we suggested a joint interview she said, “It can never happen,” adding that:”I don’t want to talk about my personal life. Why can’t we talk about my music projects?”

Susan, who is now working on her album, says it was not easy for their kids to understand her move.

“With the children it was a process. I just moved out to my house. He was aware that I was leaving,”

She admits that their parents were equally upset by their decision. Has Susan found love?

“No, I’m single. However, James thinks I left him because I was seeing someone,” she said.
