We're tired of insecurity, say Opposition

Kenya: Opposition leaders Raila Odinga and Musalia Mudavadi have told the Jubilee administration that Kenyans are tired of the rising insecurity and excuses whenever citizens are killed.

Speaking at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega County during a requiem mass for seven Mandera massacre victims, Raila dismissed the sacking of Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph ole Lenku and resignation of Inspector General of Police Joseph Kimaiyo as "knee-jerk reactions" to a complex problem.

He said if resigning was an effective recourse to restoring order in Kenya's security mess, then Jubilee should lead by example because they had failed to deliver.

Raila maintained that for the country to be secure, the State should withdraw its military troops from Somalia to guard Kenyans.

"Kenyans working in Mandera and other insecure places should not withdraw their services," he said.

Mudavadi said Parliament passed laws to allow governors to head security matters in the counties.
