Top gospel deejay, Dj MO, harassed and arrested along Naivasha-Nairobi highway

Local News

Mo Arrested

Police harassment in Kenya is sadly nothing out of the ordinary. This time, the victim of harassment was top gospel deejay, Dj MO. An injustice he did not take lying down.

In an interview with the deejay, Mo was headed to Nakuru with his wife, Size8, when he was stopped by police and accused of over speeding. According to the cops, he was doing 117km/hr instead of the required 110Km/hr.

The deejay handed over his driving license but the cop assured him that a bribe would make this ugly incident go away.

“I refused to give a bribe because I do not believe in corruption. I said I would accompany the police to their station,” Mo explained..

“The cop tried to get into my car but I wasn’t having any of it. There is no law that states a cop can ride in a car belonging to the arrested party. I insisted on following the police car. That is when the policeman got mad, accused me of driving a car with tinted windows then called his 6 counterparts who roughly bundled me into their Landover,” he continued.

“I don’t understand why they would physically assault me like a criminal yet I had been corporative all along. Luckily some artistes who were driving from Kitale saw the drama and pulled to the side of the road. They witnessed the whole debacle and helped drive my car to the police station.”

On arrival to the station, the police accused him of over speeding, driving with tinted windows and resisting arrest. They however only charged him with over speeding to which he posted a cash bail of Sh10,000.

The case is to be heard at a later date.

Dj MO took to his social media pages to highlight the incident complete with photos of the police including their service numbers.

He urged for action against corrupt officers who extort money from motorists along the highways as well as those who physically assault motorists.
