National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi and his Senate counterpart Ekwe Ethuro have been urged to convene a joint meeting to iron out differences between the two Houses.

Runyenjes MP Cecily Mbarire said political proclamations coming out of the two legislative Houses have reached dangerous levels which portends possible disharmony in running and management of legislative matters.

Speaking at Karurumo, when she launched a Sh50 million Technical Training Institute, the MP said it is time the proclamations are brought to a logical conclusion.

Ms Mbarire told the two speakers the mandates bestowed upon them require them to exercise Solomonic wisdom in providing leadership.

She challenged them to demonstrate that they are up to the task of steering the two Houses towards appropriate attainment of expected constitutional jurisdictions.

The MP termed as unfortunate the blame games currently at play and especially requirements that bills legislated by the National Assembly be referred back to the Senate.

"If this stalemate has to persist, then it is best for the National Assembly to be left to carry out its mandate as the law making House," she said.

CREATE DIVISIONS

Mbarire cautioned Embu MCAs against falling prey to political machinations by some politicians who she said are out to create divisions among Embu and Mbeere communities.

She described as unwanted, tribal sentiments which have been introduced in the assembly and that are dividing MCAs along the Mbeere\Embu ethnic divisions.

Speaker Kariuki Mate, who was also present at the fundraiser, vowed not to entertain ethnic related sentiments at the assembly while claiming there is a plan to impeach him.

Mate said a group of MCAs from Embu met at Salkan Hotel to plot his ouster while those from Mbeere, his community, met at Catch 22 Hotel to plan how to save him.

He said the move to remove him is entirely tribal based.
