10 year old boy saves father from gunmen by pleading 'please don't kill my daddy'

Peterborough, England: A brave little boy begged for his dad’s life when armed robbers burst into their home.

Luke Gill, 10, shouted “Please don’t kill my daddy” when one of the gang pointed a shotgun in his father’s face.

Colin Gill, 51, was in his kitchen when the three men smashed through the door with an axe.

Terrified Luke ran to his side while a robber dragged his weeping sister Eloise, 13, from her room.

The balaclava-clad gang then pointed a sawn-off shotgun at Colin and his children and kept demanding “Where is the safe?”

Their ordeal lasted 20 minutes before an alarm was activated and the gang fled with £4,000 in foreign notes, a £2,500 diamond watch and a phone.

Colin, who runs a business selling used lorries, said: “There was an explosion of glass as they hacked through the door and seconds later they put a gun to my head.

“The axeman smelled of drink and was clearly on edge.

“He walked towards me with his axe and I felt we were all just a flick of a coin away from being killed.

"Then Luke screamed three times ‘Please don’t kill my daddy.’ That defused the situation – I’m so proud of him, he was very brave.

“The gunman pointed his weapon at all of us but both kids stayed so calm.

“I told the gang where some money and jewellery was and they went to get it.”

Wife Debbie, 48, was shopping when the raiders struck in Glinton, near Peterborough, Cambs.

Dad-of-six Colin, whose four older children do not live at home, said: “These people are just scum.

“Anyone who points a gun at a pair of kids is not a man.

“Luke can’t sleep at night. He and Eloise were terrified.”
