Their third cousin was injured and is in hospital after the Sunday incident where their vehicle was set ablaze after the shooting incident but nothing was stolen from them.

According to police, the three who are said to be University students in the city were carjacked as they drove from their Kileleshwa home on their way to pay a visit to their aunt in Mwiki area.

They were forcibly seized by a gang of six gunmen at gunpoint, held hostage before they were commandeered towards Nairobi River in Ruai where they were shot at point blank close range in the head, stomach and on the ribs respectively.

Police are investigating the motive of the attack. They want to know the circumstances under which three were shot and their vehicle, a dark blue Suzuki was set ablaze by the hit men who escaped without stealing anything from the victims in what preliminary police investigations point to a clear murder plot.

“Two vehicles were spotted speeding off from the scene but their registration was not taken. Officers managed to put off the fire and towed the vehicle to Ruai Police Station pending investigations.

However, no arrest has been made so far," an officer said.
