Ukambani council of elders roots for peace

The Ukambani council of elders yesterday urged leaders in the area to end the political turmoil wrecking the region and preach peace and unity.

The elders, under the 'Atumia ma Thome' banner, also expressed concern over alleged external forces behind the political unrest.

They called on the leaders to be wary of the forces whose aim was to mess the existing peace in Ukambani region for their own gain.

At a special forum held in Machakos town, the elders led by national chairman Bishop Michael Musili said the wrangles in the region are likely to have been ignited by external forces out to divide and rule the Kamba community.

Citing the incident in Makueni where the executive and the county assembly were at loggerheads, the elders called for immediate restoration of cordial relations through dialogue and forgiveness.
