Nairobi, Kenya: President Uhuru Kenyatta jetted back into the country Thursday evening from Kigali, Rwanda where he was a keynote speaker at the 6th East African Business Summit.

Addressing the summit, President Kenyatta allayed fears that Kenyans would dominate all available jobs if the regional labour market were opened and liberalized.

The President regretted that full integration of the East African region was being slowed by these unfounded fears among some of its members.

He expressed the need for regional leaders to debunk the notion of protecting ‘jobs for my people’, an approach taken by some partner states.

On his part, President Paul Kagame described as primitive and limiting the mentality of denying people from the region an opportunity to  seek jobs outside the respective countries.

He said an experiment by Kenya and Rwanda had proved mutually beneficial, adding that he has people from all over East Africa working in his office, besides Americans and Britons.

The plane carrying the President and his entourage touched down at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport shortly after 6pm.

On arrival, the Head of State was received by Deputy President William Ruto and other senior Government officials.

The president will tomorrow Friday, October 17, commission the Ol-Karia IV geothermal power plant. The new power plants at Ol-Karia are central to the Jubilee Government's strategy for lowering the cost of power and infrastructure. The commissioning of the power plant at Ol-Karia is scheduled to begin at 10am.
