Kenya, Nigeria seek to boost trade deals by 50 per cent

Kenya: Kenya and Nigeria are working to increase the trade volumes between the two nations.

The two nations hope to increase import and export trade proportions from the current 30 per cent to over 50 per cent by next year. This emerged when a group of Nigerian investors toured Naivasha and held talks with Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua.

Mbugua said they had found key areas of investments between the two countries, adding that they were mainly concerned with agriculture. He said Nakuru being an agricultural region had impressed the investors. He said the county will form an integral part of the engagements as outlined by President Uhuru Kenyatta when he toured Nigeria recently.

Head of the Nigerian Agri-Biz Group Emmanuel Ijewere said Kenya's horticultural industry was renowned worldwide, adding they will increase their imports from Nakuru where over 80 per cent of flowers are grown.
