Senators hit at Parliamentary Service Commission over welfare hitch

The Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) has come under fire from senators over its handling of crucial issues affecting their welfare.

During a Speakers' meeting held Thursday, the senators claimed the PSC had not been proactive in facilitating the legislative agenda of the House.

The senators gave the House leadership a raft of proposals to be implemented as part of their demands.

They informed Speaker Ekwee Ethuro, Majority Leader Kithure Kindiki and Minority Leader Moses Wetang'ula that they were still keen on having their own kitty, similar to the Constituency Development Fund controlled by MPs.

Other demands placed before the Senate leadership included enhancing county offices to be commensurate with their status.

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale said they discussed issues affecting the welfare of senators but declined to give more details.
