Deported ‘drug peddler’ sneaks back to Kenya

A Burundi national who had been deported from Kenya over drug trafficking accusations is back in Nairobi.

Police arrested Mohammed Doukoure in Buruburu at the weekend, three weeks after he had sneaked back through the Namanga border.

Officials said Doukoure was arrested from a house in Metro Villa estate with two fake passports.

According to the Head of Special Crimes Prevention Unit Noah Katumo, Doukoure also had Congolese and Guinea passports bearing the names Simbi Mabuasa Tonton.

Katumo said Doukoure was deported June 13 last year following a presidential directive that all drug traffickers be arrested and deported.

“We are informed he came back early this month through the Namanga border but his passports have no entry stamp. The operation against drug dealers is ongoing,” said Katumo, adding that the suspect is expected in court this morning to face various charges including being in the country illegally.

Doukoure becomes the fourth alleged drug dealer to sneak back to Kenya after being deported in an operation launched by the Government.

A Guinea national, Komani Camara alia Boss Kamara, was two weeks ago found dead with gunshot wounds after he had been deported and sneaked back to Nairobi.

Police said they are yet to know who killed him.

A Nigerian trafficker Eneke Chimenze alias Anaeke Chimezie who was then deported and came back to Kenya was also caught and sent back.
