At least 11 people were killed in a dawn attack on Thursday at Kibusu Village in Tana Delta as clashes in the area escalated.
Kenya Red Cross officials in Tana said the attack was carried out at 7am. Among those who died are five children; three men and three women.
The officials say 19 houses were torched by the attackers and the victims were burnt to death.
Officers from the General Service Unit are on the ground.
Clashes hit Tana Delta on Wednesday after 10 people were killed in Nduru village and four others seriously wounded.
Police say the incidents are retaliatory attack between the Orma and Pokomo communities.
The violence continued despite a directive by President Kibaki to dispatch 2,000 officers from the paramilitary GSU to the area.
In December 21, 2012, 42 people were killed in Tana with the death toll reaching 160 since August last year when the attacks began.
