This is a mockery we are making of academia and our public institutions. Raila and Kibaki did not deserve to be feted for anything, rather, they ought to be censured. If not for the two of them and their cronies, the whole mess would never have occurred in the first place. This is rewarding impunity. This is watering down honorary degrees. We need to be more discriminative in future.

Now Raila and Kibaki can start tarmacking and feel how tough it is getting a decent job in Kenya. Unless of course they simply decide to retain their positions.

It is too early to confer these degrees as we want to know what is contained in Judge Waki's report. And it should be a warning to the Executive that everyone is eagerly waiting for action. There have been so many Commissions but up to now, Kenyans are still in the dark on what those commissions' reports carried. Taxpayers' money must be accounted for.

I hope the three gentlement will return the honours to Kenyans by bringing the perpetrators of the violence to justice. The only way we can avoid a repeat of the shameful culture of killing the innocent every five years when we have to vote is by re-introducing human rights. Let them go to Hague and explain their shameful deeds.

It was inappropriate for Mr Kibaki and Mr Odinga to accept the degree awards at this juncture. Given that there are thousands of Kenyans still languishing in IDP camps, it is absurd to assume that normalcy has been restored. In fact the two leaders have yet to find out who the perpetrators of the violence were in order to clear their names.
