| The most we have to address is about the Power bills which are soaring high and higher from July 2008. The Fuel Cost Charge on bills up to May 2008 was 314.0 cents/kwh = Ksh3.14 per consumption unit. In the month of July 2008 it has gone up to 649 cents/kwh = Ksh.6.49 per consumption unit and now the bill for August 2008 is charged at 769.0 cents/kwh = Ksh.7.69 per consumption unit. The consumption charge per unit is Kshs.8.10 pr unit. From above one can see the trend of rise from 3.14 to 6.49 to 7.69 which is really exorbitant somewhat 100% and not 24% which was on the media. Kenya Power and Lighting needs to elaborate more on these charges as I know many do not get the picture how the bills are worked.
