The former executive director of Kenya Times Media Trust (KTMT) Wilson Kibet is dead.

Kibet, 62, died at the Kenyatta National Hospital. His son, Kipkemoi Kibet, said his father had been in hospital since January.

"He has been in hospital for the last two months," he said.

Before joining the KTMT, Kibet worked as the MD, Kerio Valley Development Authority and human resources manager at Kenya Airways.

"He has been in private business since his retirement and did community services," Kipkemoi said.

While at Kenya Times, Kibet defended the assets of KTMT from being disposed of by Agriculture minister William Ruto, who claimed he had injected money in the media house.

Kipkemboi said the family will hold a fundraising on Tuesday at Tin Tin Restaurant in Nairobi to offset the medical bill. He is survived by wife, Elizabeth, and four children.
