A former nominated Nakuru councillor who caused a sensation ten years ago when he wrote to former US President Bill Clinton seeking his daughter’s hand in marriage is at it again.

Godwin Kipkemboi Chepkurgor has authored another letter, this time to Chelsea Clinton expressing both his excitement and disappointment over her impending marriage.

In a 2,290-word letter dated January9, and sent through US Ambassador Michael Ranneberger, Chepkurgor expressed his undying love for Chelsea and the desire to meet her.

He indicated that he would be willing to travel to the US in summer for the wedding if invited.

The letter reads in part: "Greetings of joy and happiness be to you, Your Excellency Sir.

"Now sir, I am not sure if it is right that I should write through your office this very private and personal issue (sic). Pardon my naivety. I do not know any other way. I welcome your advice.

"You must have recognised me as the smitten guy who proposed and hoped to marry the lovely daughter of Bill and Hillary Clinton, the only and lovely Chelsea. I am still smitten.

"I have recently learnt through the media that my beloved lady is betrothed to someone else and that she plans to wed this summer. Sir, when is summer?

"Sir, I received the news with mixed feelings: I was both overjoyed and jealous. I sometimes think that I did not work hard enough.

"However, believe me sir, I am so happy for her. I wish her all the joy and success as she plans for the auspicious occasion and much happiness thereafter.

"In her Internet posting, she says that she hopes that all will be there. When I saw that, my heart skipped in hope and anticipation. Would that be her shy and polite way of inviting me?

"If she bids me to come, tell her that I would swim across a crocodile-infested river like a thirsty wildebeest of the Mara to deliver a her rose.

"However, if my Beloved Lady is shy to bid me come, please tell her how my heart aches in longing and hope.

"Tell her of my many fantastic dreams and loving wishes. Tell her of my many white horses and beautiful castles I always built high in the sky.

"Oh my Gracious Lady! How her smile could bring peace to the hearts of the little children in the Gaza Strip. Her steadfast countenance would bring calm and order in the chaotic anarchy in Somalia.

"I believe her mother when she says, my daughter is independent and responsible and when her awesome father says Merzvinsky is a great human being.

"I also believe that if they met me, he would say, for certain, that I am a great man and I deserve of her.

"My love is simple and true. It is chronic. It is persistent and phenomenal. It increases in measure like the global warming. I feel it in my heart and speak it with my lips. My word is my testimony and my heart is my witness.

"I LOVE YOU, DEAR CHELSEA, AND FOREVER CHERISH THE THOUGHT OF YOU.

"Yours truly and forever in love,

Godwin K Chepkurgor."

Chepkurgor tells us that he sent the letter to Ranneberger through Kenya Postal Corporation’s Express Mail Services (EMS) but is yet to receive an acknowledgement.

The letter he wrote 10 years ago was channelled through then US Ambassador Johnny Carson.

He had offered 40 goats and 20 cows as dowry and named retired President Moi, Eldoret East MP Margaret Kamar, former MP Ziphora Kittony as referees.

After failing to get a response from the Clintons, Chepkurgor married Grace with whom they have two children.

Chelsea and her long-term boyfriend Marc Mezvinsky, an investment banker, used Thanksgiving holiday to announce their engagement on November 27, last year.

When Hillary visited Kenya last year, she promised to deliver the man’s message to her daughter. "She is very independent person," Mrs Clinton said but added that she would try and convey the offer.
