Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has called on the youth to shun consumption of illicit brews and instead concentrate on sports activities.
The Vice President urged the youth to not only concentrate on winning, but also take sports as a profession that will improve their livelihoods.
"You should say no to ulevi and spare more time for sports," he said.
The Vice President made the remarks yesterday during the Tseikuru Annual Football Tournament at Tseikuru Primary School, in his Mwingi North Constituency in Tseikuru District where he was the Chief Guest.
The final match, played between Tseikuru United and Ngarange United Football
Clubs saw Tseikuru emerge winners after beating Ngarange 1-0. The winners were presented with a trophy donated by Kalonzo’s son Kennedy Musyoka.
On development, the Vice President called on residents to construct hotels in Kyuso, Mwingi and Katse, saying that plans were underway to have tourists visit Mwingi North National Reserve.
Musyoka said plans were underway to improve the Maua –Tseikuru – Mwingi - Kitui and Kibwezi Road to facilitate faster movement of goods and open up the region. He said the Government had allocated over Sh100 million for the construction of Tseikuru Polytechnic next year.
Musyoka disclosed that the area will also be considered for re-stocking when the programme starts among other areas.
He said more irrigation projects will be initiated in the area so that people would stop relying on rain- fed farming.
He commended the Israel experts for starting Green House technology.
