Head teachers in Imenti South District who have closed schools early will be disciplined.
"I have noted some schools have already closed for the December vacation. This is illegal," area District Education Officer Julius Kimathi said.
He was addressing about 300 head teachers from public and private schools during the sensitisation of the Strengthening of Mathematics and Science in Secondary Education (Smasse) programme in primary schools at Mwichiune PCEA Church in Abogeta division.
Smasse entails promotion of teaching of sciences and mathematics. It was previously exclusive to secondary schools. Kimathi told head teachers who want to close schools ahead of the stipulated date to liaise with his office before doing so.
Kimathi at the same time said schools in Imenti South District should have new management committees by February, next year.
