Police are looking for firearms that were allegedly hidden in latrines by suspected gangs in a village in Gatundu South District.
Several latrines in Wamwangi village were demolished and excavated in the exercise that began on Saturday when a suspected gangster was gunned down.
A gun, two magazines and 35 bullets were recovered from the deceased.
Thika Deputy OCPD Caleb Wesa said the exercise had not borne any more recoveries, but added it was ongoing.
The gun, among others being looked for, was reportedly purchased in Isiolo.
Cold blood
Residents have in the past appealed for Government intervention to curb increasing crime.
Elsewhere, the body of a woman who was killed in cold blood before being cut into pieces has been found dumped at a bus stop in Nairobi’s Dandora Estate.
The body was found in a sack at the terminus on Saturday morning.
There were conflicting reports on how it ended at the scene with some witnesses saying a matatu dropped it there. Others claimed it was offloaded from an unknown car.
Police who came to collect the body of the middle-aged woman said they were yet to identify her.
Buru Buru Deputy OCPD Karisa Mwaringa said police had taken the victim’s fingerprints to identify her.
Meanwhile, Kayole OCPD Shadrack Maithia has been moved to Nyamira in the same capacity in changes announced by police headquarters.
The changes affecting six officers saw Turkana OCPD Joseph Lubisia moved to Kayole to replace Maithia.
Kayole is among Mungiki hotspots and the transfer of Mr Lubisia, who was a member of the disbanded Kwekwe squad that had been formed to fight the sect in 2006, shows the authorities want to suppress the sect’s activities.
