Internal Security Minister George Saitoti has been ordered to disclose how many people were killed and injured during the 2007/2008 post-election violence in Kisumu.
According to medical records and reports by human rights organisations, most people died from police gunshots. MPs Olago Aluoch (Kisumu Town West) and Shakeel Shabbir Ahmed (Kisumu Town East) were detained and released without charges.
More time
Deputy Speaker Farah Maalim Mohamed told Assistant Minister Orwa Ojode he had had enough time to get the information after he failed to answer the Kisumu Town West MP on Thursday, and asked "for more time".
Ojode did not explain why he had not investigated the matter for a year but promised to "answer as soon as possible". Farah, however, ordered him to respond next Thursday.
Olago wants the Government to disclose when victims of the violence and families of those killed will be compensated.
