The taskforce report on police reforms will be tabled before Cabinet and Parliament for immediate adoption and implementation, the Government said on Monday.

Internal Security Minister George Saitoti said the Government is committed in instituting formidable reforms in the force in an effort to make it a world-class outfit.

Prof Saitoti said Government will seek more than Sh30 billion from development partners to meet the Sh81.4 billion target that is needed to implement the reforms.

"I am a reformer and I mean to say we will implement these recommendations. There will be no need for me to be here if I won’t push for implementation of these recommendations," he said.

Saitoti made the remarks when he and his PS Francis Kimemia and members of the taskforce met editors to highlight on the way forward concerning the report presented to President Kibaki last week.

The minister said more than Sh50 billion will be raised locally to implement the reforms in four years.

He revealed the proposed Reforms Implementation Commission will be gazetted by end of the week.

The commission will among other things co-ordinate, monitor and supervise implementation of recommended reforms.
