The new constitution should be favourable to all Kenyans, Lands Assistant Minister Gonzi Rai has said.
He said it should reflect wishes of wananchi and ensure equal distribution of resources.
"We have to be careful and choose a constitution that ensures equal sharing of resources," said Rai.
He urged residents to ensure a federal system of governance (majimbo) was adopted in the new constitution.
He was speaking during a harambee at Ndavaya Secondary School in Kinango constituency at the weekend.
Rai asked the residents not to elect a leader because of the party he was in, but based on his development record. Kisauni MP Hassan Joho (ODM), who accompanied Rai, urged the Government to ensure every constituency was treated equally.
"Enough is enough. It’s about time the Government respected the coast region," he said.
Mr Joho, who is the ODM national organising secretary, said Coast MPs would unite and come up with a common position on the new constitution.
Joho said they have formed an alliance with Rai, who is from PNU, that would be based on the Coast agenda.
"We want to see a region that has enough facilities, good infrastructure and is economically empowered. We are tired of being marginalised," he said.
