Will the waiting continue?

Sofapaka are behaving like a freshly released cheetah.

Domesticated animals once released in the wild do not know how to kill prey. Even when they catch one, they turn it into a play thing, chasing it all over and deriving much pleasure in the exercise. These animals are used to feeding from a feeding bottle as the guardian warmly cuddles it. This is the same treatment that Sofapaka appear to be expecting from the rest of the

football fraternity. For long, Sofapaka has led the race to the prey but just when everyone was expecting them to go for the kill in the wild, the team turned it into a stroll in the park but nothing else. Sofapaka’a failure to beat Western Stima means we have to wait for the results of the duel between them and relegation candidates Red Berets.

Big blow

Second-placed Mathare United also had their ambitions of retaining the cup dealt by big blow after 1-1 draw with Ulinzi in Nakuru. Mathare are back in the same situation where they will depend on Sofapaka at 53 points getting nothing in the last two matches so that both sides can finish level. However, Mathare six points behind must win the remainder the matches for that to happen.

Meanwhile, third placed Tusker finally had their hopes of adding another feather to their glorious history scuttled after losing out to Sony in an absorbing match that witnessed seven goals, one of the heist scoring ties in the recent past.

While on the wrong side of the table its clearly now a dog fight down there. Relegation threatened Bandari produced a gritty performance to silence Gor Mahia 2-1 at Mombasa Municipal Stadium. These results gave Bandari faint hopes of survival.

However, Bandari would have preferred that AFC Leopards shared the spoils with the other relegation candidates Red Berets. But this was not the case. Ingwe, now have put one foot out of demotion trouble having dismissed Berets.

Kenya’s economy is on the road to recovery

Kenya’s economy is on a positive growth trajectory. That is the judgment from leading fund management firms, investment banks, economists and the World Bank. Although the estimated GDP growth of between 3-4 per cent is still below the country’s potential, when benchmarked against competing economies in East Africa, the economy is expected to make a strong recovery this year.
