A Mombasa court was treated to free comedy when a bhang addict told the court that he smokes the drug to gain appetite.
Daniel Muthee told the Chief Magistrate Rosemelle Mutoka that he would not lie about possessing bhang.
"Yes I am a smoker. And why should I deny that I smoke bhang? he wondered.
He added that it was true the officers found him with the three rolls of bhang in his house.
Muthee continued with his drama and stunned the packed court when he was asked whether that was his first time to be arraigned in court with a similar offence.
"This is not my first time. I have been charged with similar offences so many times, like seven times," he said as people burst in a prolonged laughter.
However, the Magistrate ordered the accused to be remanded in custody for one week so that the prosecution could avail his previous record.
