Interim Independent Boundary Review Commission (IIBRC) will this week meet leaders from Central Kenya region, many of who have been calling for a one-man-one-vote principle in delimitation of constituencies.

The Andrew Ligale-led commission heads in the region amid spirited campaigns from local MPs to have the principle adopted in creation of new electoral boundaries, which they argue will accord residents fair representation.

The commission will meet the leaders at Nyeri Information Hall tomorrow.

Legislators from the region have taken cue from sentiments expressed by President Kibaki during Kenyatta Day celebrations to further their call for fair representation.

Yesterday, some MPs said they would use the forum to convince the commission to recommend the principle. "We want to speak in one voice because we feel our region is not adequately represented in Parliament," said Central Kenya MPs Forum Chairman Ephraim Maina.

The Mathira MP said he would present a memorandum to the commission on behalf of the forum, demanding the splitting of populous constituencies.
