Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka has cautioned Kamba leaders against engaging in hate campaigns.

Kalonzo said the leaders must accommodate each other despite their divergent views. The VP called for unity of purpose.

He spoke in Kitui Central Constituency when he led Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta, Water Minister Charity Ngilu, MPs Philip Kaloki (Kibwezi) and Kiema Kilonzo (Mutito) among others in a burial of former Cabinet minister Titus Mbathi’s son, Christopher Musembi at the weekend.

Kalonzo said it was unfortunate for the leaders to use their time and energy in activities not beneficial to the community. He said leaders had a moral duty to serve the electorate diligently.

"We must have a common goal to help our people impoverished by poverty," the VP said.

Uhuru called for peaceful co-existence and mutual respect among Kenyans across ethnic backgrounds.

Use talents

Ngilu assured Uhuru she would comply with his directive and surrender vehicles assigned to her from today. Meanwhile, the VP has urged the youth to use their talents to solve their problems. He said the youth should exploit and harness their resources in economic activities aimed at reducing poverty.

Speaking during a party hosted in honour of 2009 Miss World-Kenya, Fiona Konchela, at the Serena Hotel on Saturday evening, Kalonzo called on the youth to direct their artistic abilities in advancing the cause of peace.
