An ODM-Kenya National Executive Committee and Parliamentary Group meeting has been postponed.
The meet, which was expected to be stormy, had been planned for Wedneday at Chungwa House in Nairobi.
It was postponed through a mobile phone text message from party headquarters.
The message read: "The meeting of NEC/PG has been postponed indefinitely." The burial of party chairman Samuel Poghisio’s grandmother, who died last week, was given as the reason for the postponement.
But some officials claimed the meeting was postponed due to what they termed "internal pressure".
Deputy secretary general Mohamed Abdikara and national vice-chair Peris Tobiko expressed surprise the meeting was called at short notice and postponed the same way.
"There was the fear some NEC members and MPs were out to embarrass VP Kalonzo Musyoka," a senior party official, who declined to be named, said.
