A charitable organisation has helped 17 children with heart complications access free surgery in Italy.

Ndugu Zanguni Christian Organisation’s co-founder Mathew Lempurkel said the children were flown to Torino, Massa and Bergamo hospitals in Italy two weeks ago for corrective surgeries.

The children, from various districts, will stay in Italy for at least three months.

Speaking to The Standard by phone, Mr Lempurkel said the exercise would cost the organisation Sh34 million.

"The children were brought to our clinic for screening, after which medical personnel prescribed surgery," he said.
