You can remember a time when your job was very exciting; in fact you could hardly wait for Monday morning to have another go at your projects. However, somewhere along the way that changed. There are a few ways that you can spark the excitement and enthusiasm you once felt.

Take time off — Because it can take as long as a week to emotionally break away from work , take a break that is as long as or longer than two weeks.

Even if you cannot afford to go on a long vacation, stay at ho

me or with friends but, most of all, avoid anything work related — office emails, fraternising with workmates or speaking to clients.

Leave someone in charge so that your calls and matters needing your attention can be re routed. This holiday will ease feelings of burnout and make pressure and stress to abate. It also helps to find a balance between your work or career and other facets of your life; family, social and love life, etc.

Take a class —Take an online or business class that you feel might boost your career. Choose a course that you feel fires up your passion.

Not only might this bring the enthusiasm you once felt back, but it will also add value to your career and your job, and in effect put you in a higher earning power than you were previously.

Hobbies — Think about another hobby or pastime that you enjoy and take it up.

Doing something else outside of your work gives you the kind of stimulation you may need to keep your mind fresh. Sometimes, when we take a break from concentrating on one single thing we get a fresh perspective.

Change – If none of these measures work, then it might be time to think of making a change. Consider changing positions within your current firm or moving to a different firm. Being in a new situation or environment with different challenges will help you harness your creativity and possibly, bring back your enthusiasm for your career.

Remember that your relationship with your work and career is like any other life relationship and needs attention so as not to become uninteresting or go stale.
