Two students were confirmed to have H1N1 flu, as more samples from schools were taken for testing.
Suspected cases were reported in Central and Coast provinces.
At Kijabe Girls’ High School, ten girls also experienced the symptoms and were isolated and samples taken for testing.
Headmistress Patricia Mwau said the two girls could not be released from school following instruction by public health officers.
And health officials in Nyeri yesterday collected samples from two pupils suspected to have contracted H1Ni virus at Mt Kenya Academy.
In Siakago, a patient at the local district hospital tested positive.
Elsewhere in Malindi, health officials collected samples from a school after 20 students showed symptoms.
Fever and headache
In the Mt Kenya Academy case, Central Provincial Public Health officer George Ngatiri said the tests were taken after the pupils complained of fever and headaches. In Mbeere, Medical Officer of Health Stephen Kaniaru said a student from Molo came to the hospital with swine flu symptoms.
The medic said specimens taken to the International Influenza Centre confirmed the boy was positive.
At a Malindi high school, learning was disturbed as medical personnel from the local district hospital toured the school and took samples.
District Medical Officer of Health Morris Buni said they had taken samples from 20 students and sent them to Nairobi for analysis.
