When attending a black tie event, the woman is inevitably the show. Hence, she must be meticulously spruced up to fit the part. For men, it comes easy and simple — a tuxedo effortlessly does the trick. Photo: Maxwell Agwanda

The options for women are limitless. From full-length skirts and tube-dresses, high waist gowns to sensual trousers, the rule is to stick to styles and cuts that flatter your form. If you have a little weight in the stomach area, a wrap dress will suit you well as it tends to hide the excesses while enhancing a beautiful waistline. If yours is an hour-glass figure, a tube dress will complement beautifully.
If trousers are your preferred mode of dressing, make sure you pair them with a top that adds a sensual effect. A tube top falls in that category. Finally, understand what kind of black tie event you will be gracing. Some are strictly formal so try to be conservative. A creative Black Tie event leaves room for trendy interpretations of formal wear.
