Ministers and MPs are among prominent Kenyans who were allocated Agricultural Development Corporation farms.
A list tabled in the House names Cabinet ministers William Ruto and William ole Ntimama as some of big political players who were allocated State farms.
Other politicians mentioned in the document presented to Parliament are Agriculture Assistant Minister Kareke Mbiuki, MPs Isaac Ruto, Boaz Kaino, Wilson Litole and one G K Saitoti. Appellate judge Justice E O Okubasu is also among those from the legal fraternity named.
It was not possible to establish if the Saitoti referred to in the list is Internal Security Minister George Saitoti. Former MPs named are GG Mokku, the late Vincent K Too, Francis Kaino Mutwol, Japheth Ekidor and David Sudi. Agriculture PS Dr Romano Kiome signed the document.
The list was first tabled last week but the Speaker ordered it expunged on grounds it had not signed by any Government official to make it authentic.
MPs demanded the allocations be revoked and the land given to the landless including squatters.
Responding to a question by Molo MP Joseph Kiuna, Mr Mbiuki said the move to dish out the land was ill advised. "The former Government allocated the land meant for agricultural development. The current Government has been forced to buy more land for ADC activities since the little that was spared is not enough," he said.
He said it was not possible to ascertain genuine squatters among the allottees saying "even the ministers or MPs on the list might have been squatters at the time".
