A widow broke down as she testified over the killing of her husband, the former Saboti CDF Manager Joshua Orina.
Ms Jemima Nyamosi narrated to Kitale High Court how her husband disappeared moments after he was summoned for a meeting with former CDF Treasurer Isaac Masengeli.
Orina was abducted in Kitale town on March 18, last year, before his body was found near the Nzoia Sugar Company in Bungoma West District.
State Counsel Nicholas Mutuku said two suspects withdrew money from the deceased’s account at Equity Bank.
"The two suspects were identified from the images extracted from the bank’s CCTV camera," he told the court.
The suspects were arrested in Kitale and later led police officers to the murder scene where the body was recovered.
Nahashon Omondi Wando and Kenneth Barasa Luchu are charged with Orina’s murder.
Gone underground
Masengeli went underground after the two were arrested, and has still not been arrested.
A postmortem revealed the deceased was shot ten times in the head, chest and stomach.
The suspects confessed to the police that Masengeli hired them to kill Orina and withdraw the money.
They told the court they later burned the cards after withdrawing the money.
Mr Mutuku said Sh72,000 was withdrawn from the deceased’s account.

Get married: On paper Everyone considered her married, but when she passed away, 'Queen' Jane Nyambura's marriage to James Kariuki was cast in doubt. Apparently, the two were not issued with a marriage certificate despite solemnising their marriage at a Ruiru church in June 2001, as James told a Thika court.
