MPs from the South Rift will meet Prime Minister Raila Odinga to discuss the fate of Mau Forest settlers.
Raila has invited the MPs on Thursday to discuss the contents of the Mau Task Force report before it is released to the public, sources privy to the agenda of the meeting told The Standardon Wednesday.
It has also emerged that MPs quietly commissioned a parallel task force comprising lawyers, land experts and environmentalists, which has come up with recommendations to be tabled at the meeting.
Three MPs, Dr Julius Kones (Konoin), Mr Magerer Lang’at (Kipkelion) and Mr Isaac Ruto (Chepalungu) confirmed they had been invited.
"The Prime Minister has invited us to discuss the settlement, planned relocation of people in the complex and the task force report," Kones said.
Magerer told The Standard on the telephone that the MPs had earlier told Raila that their input should be captured in the report before it is made public.
"We told the PM in a meeting in December last year that MPs must scrutinise the report once it is tabled before him," Magerer said.
