The Mutui Museo (Good Neighbour) initiative has raised more than Sh3 million in cash and Sh4 million in pledges.
Yesterday, Vice-Treasurer Tom Luusa said the money has bought food for distribution in Ukambani.
"At least, residents in the four larger districts in Ukambani have benefited from relief food donated by ‘Mutui Museo’ in the past two months," he told The Standard.
Mr Luusa said a fundraiser is scheduled for this weekend, where Kamba artistes will perform at Matuu market, Yatta District.
He appealed to the Government and well-wishers to help raise money for the starving, following failed rains last season.
Rain relief
Meanwhile, heavy rains pounded parts of Ukambani for the second day running, as residents trooped to their farms to plant.
The rains have brought a sigh of relief to the hunger stricken, whose remaining livestock were threatened with death due to lack of pasture and water.
