A suit in which a school is seeking an order to bar a the Standard Group from publishing stories about the death of a pupil has been adjourned.

Nakuru High Court Judge David Maraga adjourned the matater filed by Gilgil Hills Academy after a lawyer, Mr David Mong’eri, holding brief for Guram and Company Advocates, said the media house required time to file its defence.

He said the plaintiffs served the application a few days ago and the defendants needed time to prepare the defence.

"The media house has also not published any story about the school since March 18, thus the order barring it from publishing should not be issued," he said.

The suit will be heard on May 25.

Corruption case

Last month, Justice Maraga declined to issue an order stopping any publication about the death of Linda Chepkorir because ‘The Standard’ and KTN had not published or aired the story since March 18.

Gilgil Hills Academy went to court to seek an injunction against the media house from publishing stories on the death of Chepkorir.

Officers from the Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission arrested the director of the school, Mr Isaac Kamunya, last month.

He was attempting to bribe a ‘Standard’ reporter not to publish the story. Kamunya has since been charged with four counts of corruption.

The corruption case against Kamunya will be heard on April 24.
